In this present moment, as we are experiencing continuing & increasing uncertainty in political, social & environmental conditions world-wide, now more than ever, our Dharma practice is of utmost importance, for each of us personally & as a gift to others on this magnificently beautiful & troubled planet.

I invite you to consider joining us in Taos for a Mountain Hermitage retreat. Situated here in northern New Mexico, at the base of the stunning Sangre de Cristos Mountains, Taos’ relative remoteness is part of its charm. It is well worth the effort to travel here to experience the beauty & unique Southwestern flavor of the town, the retreat center & the surroundings. Many of our students, once they have come here to practice the Dharma, want to return again & again.

At The Mountain Hermitage, 16 people is a full retreat. We hold our small retreats at Hyperslow Retreat Center @ San Geronimo Lodge, a unique & inviting historic adobe building. Its thick foot-wide walls, hand-made of Taos mud, provide warmth in the cold seasons & coolness in the warm seasons… and an exceptionally still & quiet environment all year long. The peaceful lodge grounds offer exceptional spaces for out-of-doors walking & sitting meditation any time of year.

Because of their small size, a respectful warmth of community/sangha blossoms quite naturally at Hermitage retreats. Our programs are taught by deeply skilled & sensitive teachers who know how to support both beginning & long experienced Dharma students. Teacher-student practice meetings are frequent during Mountain Hermitage retreats. This unique ease of access is deeply appreciated by those who attend retreats with us.
