With a boundless heart should one cherish all living beings…
radiating kindness over the entire world.
Wishing: In gladness and in safety, may all beings be at ease!
–The Buddha, Metta Sutta
Please help us to continue to offer scholarship aid at our current levels — scholarship aid that makes the retreat experience possible for so many who would otherwise not be able to attend — and to support the modest operating costs for the Mountain Hermitage during these uncertain times. We are honored to be able to offer more ONLINE practice opportunities during the autumn and winter of 2020 and hope to be able to offer in person retreats in 2021. Please stay tuned to our website as we continue to navigate these strange waters. In the autumn/early winter of 2020 we have the following opportunities: 4 Sunday International Sangha Online Mini Retreats with Marcia Rose; the October 2020 Half Day POC ONLINE Retreat with Kamala Masters & DaRa Williams, and the November 2020 ONLINE Concentration Retreat for Experienced Students Retreat with Marcia Rose and teaching assistant Kristina Baré.
Our 2021 retreat & event offerings include: FEBRUARY 11 – 18, 2021 “The Heart of the Matter” Metta-Upekkha Online Dana Retreat with Marcia Rose and teaching assistant Kristina Baré; APRIL 10, 2021 International Sangha Online Mini-Retreat “The Great Blessings of Our Human Existence” with Marcia Rose; JUNE 11 – 18, 2021 Finding Freedom Through Insight Meditation Online Dana Retreat with Brian Lesage; AUGUST 13 – 20, 2021 Recognizing Natural Awareness Insight Meditation Retreat with Gregory Scharf at Columbine Inn, Taos Ski Valley,NM; NOVEMBER 5 – 14, 2021 10-Day Vipassana Retreat for Experienced Students with Annie Nugent at Columbine Inn, Taos Ski Valley, NM; and DECEMBER 5 – 12, 2021 Samatha Concentration Retreat with Venerable Dhammadipa at Blue Sky Retreat Center @ San Geronimo. Our online retreat & event offerings are confirmed. It is our sincere hope that the August, November and December retreats will happen in person at Columbine Inn or at Blue Sky Retreat Center. And it is hard to predict the future. We can only keep taking deep breaths and going back to practice every moment. Please stay tuned for updates on this website.
Our current operating expenses include small stipends for teachers and retreat personnel, online fees, technical support fees, and administrative expenses.
A gift of any amount will be received with utmost gratitude and will help the Hermitage navigate the economic uncertainties of these times. A gift of any amount will also help us to continue to bring the Dhamma to the world. Thank you.
If beings knew, as I know, the benefits of generosity,
they would not let an opportunity go by
without giving and sharing.

You may support The Mountain Hermitage by your tax deductible donation to either our General Fund or Scholarship Fund. We accept donations by either check or credit card. (See details below.)
We also encourage you to become a Sustaining Member by pledging to donate on a regular basis… be it monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly or annually. The Mountain Hermitage bank account is unable to accept direct transfers, but you can sign up with Network for Good (see below) to have regular donations charged to your credit card… or you can also arrange with your own bank to have a monthly check dispersed to the Hermitage. Your Sustaining Membership helps The Mountain Hermitage build a strong & reliable foundation to better meet the spiritual needs of the community we serve.
The Mountain Hermitage relies on donations to support our annual operating expenses and to help us hold down the cost of our retreat offerings. Our yearly expenses include publicizing our retreats, hiring a part-time administrative office assistant, paying a minimal rent and the utilities for our Hermitage office space and supporting our Guiding Teacher with a small parsonage allowance so that she can continue to devote her life to sharing the Dharma.
In keeping with a central tenet of the Hermitage mission, we have strengthened our commitment to offer the Hermitage experience to those without the resources to afford retreat costs, and to promote diversity among retreatants. Your gift to the Scholarship fund will directly contribute to bringing the transforming power of the Dharma to our world.
Any support you are able to offer our guiding teacher Marcia Rose enables her to continue to dedicate her life to sharing the Dharma on a donation basis while living as a householder in the modern world. Donations intended for Marcia should be in the form of a check written directly to her and mailed in care of The Mountain Hermitage.
