Coronavirus Impact on TMH Retreats
March 5, 2020
We would like you to know that we (The Mountain Hermitage) are closely monitoring the Coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak and determining how best to implement safety precautions within our retreats. We hope that you find the following information useful. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
For the time being, TMH’s retreat schedule will continue as planned except for Sayalay Dipankara’s retreat in September 2020. She has had to cancel her retreat due to visa issues. In the meantime, we will continue to keep you informed. We appreciate your time and patience as we all navigate this ever changing situation.
At this time, there has not yet been a reported case in New Mexico, but we do anticipate that our state will start to become affected at some point. For most people, the virus will present with common cold or flu-like symptoms. Coronavirus Covid-19 causes a respiratory infection. Symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath, and in severe cases, pneumonia.
If you are coughing, sneezing, have or have had a fever, we ask that you not attend retreat. Waiting until you are well to attend a retreat is the most important action you can take to protect yourself and others. We will offer to refund your payment should you cancel prior to retreat due to illness.
Please let the retreat manager know as soon as possible, if you develop any fever or signs of illness during retreat. Depending on the situation, we will request that you leave the retreat and get care at home. We will offer to give you a partial refund if you are asked to leave due to illness during the retreat.
We are asking those who have traveled to any place the CDC is designating “Level 3” not to attend retreat until they have been symptom-free for 14 days upon return. Current Level 3 countries are China, Iran, Italy, and South Korea. Please visit this CDC website: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices for the most up to-date information.
* Wash your hands frequently or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers. We will have hand sanitizer positioned throughout the retreat location.
* Avoid touching your face including eyes, nose, mouth.
* When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with tissue, discard tissue immediately into a closed bin, then wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
* Your risk of getting the seasonal flu at this time is still greater than your chances of getting Covid-19 and the symptoms of the two are very similar. Get plenty of rest, increase your fluid intake, and take whatever immune boosting supplements you usually take in cold/flu season.
We deeply appreciate your registration for one of our TMH retreats and we will keep you updated as time goes by.
