How You Can Help

“Just as a candle cannot burn without fire,
one cannot live without a spiritual life.”
–The Buddha

In these difficult times, practice opportunities — deeply cherished by so many, and more difficult than ever to afford — cannot be subsidized without additional philanthropic dollars from individual friends and supporters.

Will you be one of them? The Hermitage will need $14,000 in donations to continue to offer scholarship aid at our current levels — scholarship aid that makes the retreat experience possible for so many who would otherwise not be able to attend — and to support general Hermitage operations for the upcoming November 2011 Four Noble Truths Study Retreat, then in 2012 for a full schedule of four retreats — the February 2012 Wise Attention & Opening the Heart Retreat, the 2012 Annual Spring Retreat, the July 2012 Self-No Self & the Creative Process Retreat, and the November 2012 Wise Concentration Retreat. Our operating expenses include a modest facility rental, small stipends for teachers and retreat personnel, travel/food for retreat teachers and manager, and office expenses.

A gift of any amount will be received with utmost gratitude, and will help the Hermitage weather the economic storm and continue to offer the many ways we are dedicated to bringing the Dharma to the world.

“If beings knew, as I know, the benefits of generosity,
they would not let an opportunity go by
without giving and sharing.”

You may support The Mountain Hermitage by your tax deductible donation to either our General Fund, Teacher Fund or Scholarship Fund. We accept donations by either check or credit card. (See details below.)

General Fund

Tuan's-pink-lotusThe Mountain Hermitage relies on donations to support our annual operating expenses and to help us hold down the cost of our retreat offerings. Our yearly expenses include publishing our newsletter, publicizing our retreats, hiring a part-time administrative office assistant, paying a minimal rent and the utilities for our Hermitage office space and supporting our Guiding Teacher with a small parsonage allowance so that she can continue to devote her life to sharing the Dharma.

Scholarship Fund

In keeping with a central tenet of the Hermitage mission, we have strengthened our commitment to offer the Hermitage experience to those without the resources to afford retreat costs, and to promote diversity among retreatants. Your gift to the Scholarship fund will directly contribute to bringing the transforming power of the Dharma to our world.

Teacher Fund

Support our guiding teacher Marcia Rose. Your support enables her to continue to dedicate her life to sharing the Dharma on a donation basis while living as a householder in the modern world.
